The problem
Each completed assessment had to be pulled from a learning-platform export, cross-checked against the curriculum report and turned into a written PDF report by hand. Every report took about an hour.
The solution
A scheduled pipeline that runs after the platform publishes its daily exports. It pulls the files over SFTP, extracts newly completed assessments, joins them with the question data, uses an LLM to write the narrative sections and renders the final PDF. Reports are stored in Google Drive and the database, and the stakeholder is notified by email.

Engineering highlights
- ◆ Claim check per assessment makes the pipeline idempotent — re-runs never duplicate a report.
- ◆ Sub-workflow handles archive decompression and file parsing in isolation.
- ◆ Every generated report is recorded in Postgres, which later powered a full web portal.
Impact
1h → 2m per report
- ✓ Report turnaround cut from ~1 hour to ~2 minutes each.
- ✓ Became the data foundation for the Assessment Insights Portal.
